On Thursday 25 November, the Gran Teatro Antonio Ferrandis in Paterna hosted the celebration of the town’s Local Police Day, at which, in addition to decorating various officers of the local and national police forces, as well as members of Civil Protection, tribute was paid to the efforts made during the pandemic by the National Police Force, the Military Emergency Unit and the Hospital Arnau de Vilanova.
In this regard, the collaboration of various residents’ and cultural associations was also recognised, as well as that of several companies that, at the hardest point of the pandemic, pulled together to help in whatever way they could.
This was the reason why the Regional Secretary for Security and Emergencies, José María Ángel Batalla, presented Vicente Andreu Bort, chairman and founder of Andreu Barberá, S.L., with a commemorative plaque in gratitude for his contribution to the fight against Covid-19.
The Sintonía awards, founded in 2010 by the Paterna Socialists, recognise the work of different social, cultural and economic agents in our town, in areas such as solidarity, equality, freedom and social justice, as well as the special Francisco Borruey award, in honour of the former Mayor of Paterna between 1997 and 2007.
At the award ceremony, held on Sunday 28 November at the town’s Teatro Capri, Andreu Barberá, S.L. received the Solidarity award for having contributed, at the hardest moments of the pandemic, by donating 9,000 units of different items of personal protective equipment (PPE), including face masks, safety goggles and disposable coveralls, essential for combating Covid-19. Vicente Andreu Bort once again collected the award from the Deputy Secretary for Organisation of the Paterna Socialists, Nuria Campos.
The other winners were the club Paterna Ciencias Rugby, with the Equality award; the Falla Colom d´Or received the Freedom award; the Social Justice award went to the Fundación Ayuda una Familia, while the special Francisco Borruey award was granted to the Paterna Local Police.
