Andreu Paterna Chess Club promoted to National Honour Division

Andreu Barberá congratulates Andreu Paterna Chess Club for Spanish First League Chess Subchampionship, that took place in Linares.

Andreu Paterna Chess Club is proclaimed runner-up in Spanish Chess Championship, that took place in Linares, and it finished this Sunday. After five wins against 1 loss, and a fierce confrontation against Xadrez Ourense Club, it was tied at three points. On the very last game Julen Arizmendi, from Valencia, achieved to end in a stalemate, against Portuguese master Andre Ventura Sousa. Ultimately it turned to be the final outcome.

Thus, Andreu Paterna Chess Club reaches a runner-up position in this Championship, with First League Promotion as added value. On its own right Paterna Club will compete coming period with National Chess Elite

Mr Joaquín Ballester, club president, thanked for "efforts and outstanding participation of each player, in achieving this historic milestone for our club and for the town of Paterna". Furhermore, Mr Ballester wanted to congratulate Silla Chess Club for winning the championship.
